Driven to Departure
The Arrival
It was a regular day and I was rushing to work when I noticed a group of birds perching on my car. Although it looked harmonious, it was not a good sight to behold as I was afraid they would scratch the paint off my car. As I approached them, they didn't seem to bother and continued to chirp away. I had to make a decision; I could either scare them away or head to work and deal with the situation later. I chose the latter and made a mental note to handle the situation once I returned. The Harassment
It all started when I got back home in the evening. As soon as I got out of the car, the birds started chirping so loud I had to cover my ears. I foolishly thought they would fly away if I shooed them and clapped my hands, but they didn’t budge. Instead, they continued to loiter in my compound and kept making noise. I immediately knew I had a problem on my hands. Every day, they were outside my window chirping away, and it looked like they were building a nest. I tried all kinds of things to chase them away. I purchased a bird repellant, which didn’t seem to deter them, and banged pots and pans together and even played loud music. While those methods may have worked on occasions, the moment I stopped, they returned. The Departure
A few days turned into a week, and the birds seemed to have multiplied. Not only were they disrupting my peace, but they were leaving their droppings on my car and porch. At that point, I couldn’t take it any longer. I searched for organizations that deal with wildlife control and finally got in touch with one. They arrived within a few hours and started to construct a mesh to cover my roof and used loudspeakers to make unbearable noises to scare them away. Within hours, all the birds flew away, leaving me and my property alone at last. I was glad it was finally over. But somewhere in my heart, I felt a little bit of guilt for chasing them away. I knew they were just trying to survive and coexist in our world like everyone else. In conclusion, it’s essential to know that nature is a beautiful thing, and while it can be frustrating at times, it's crucial to handle such situations with care. You never know what could happen if you leave grace behind and take matters into your hands forcefully. As for me, I won't forget this experience in a hurry.
